Terms and privacy

VibeVote asks you a few questions about your own life, writes a short political self-portrait from your answers, and compares it with the candidates on this November's ballot in your state.

Terms of use

Who can use it

You must be 18 or older and live in the United States. VibeVote is for your own personal, non-commercial use. Don't take the interview on someone else's behalf, and don't resell, scrape or automate access to the service.

What the results are

The questions, your manifesto, the political traditions and the state matches are written by AI: Claude, made by Anthropic. Your positions on the ten topics are calculated by VibeVote's own code from the answers you choose; the AI writes the scenes, not the score. Candidate positions are estimates drawn from public records, and every candidate carries a link to a source you can check yourself. Any of it can be incomplete, out of date or simply wrong.

VibeVote is not voting advice, not legal advice and not an official election resource. For registration, deadlines, polling places and the official ballot, use vote.gov or your state election office.

Every result records which versions of the AI model, the questions, the scoring method and the candidate data produced it, so a result can be explained after the method changes.

Independence

VibeVote isn't affiliated with, funded by or endorsed by any political party, candidate, campaign, committee or government agency. It carries no political advertising and never tells you who to vote for.

Photos

Candidate portraits are official congressional photographs in the public domain or freely licensed images from Wikimedia Commons. The photo credits page names every author and licence.

No warranty

The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, VibeVote isn't liable for any loss, damage or decision that follows from using it. The service can change or stop at any time.

Privacy

What happens to your answers

Your ZIP code stays in your browser: the page uses it only to find your state and district. Your state, the optional details you give (age, gender, household and work), your interview answers and your language are sent to Anthropic's API so Claude can write your next questions and your manifesto. VibeVote keeps no copy on its servers and has no accounts. While the interview runs, its progress is held in your browser as an encrypted token that only our server can read; it is not stored anywhere else.

Anthropic processes that text under its own terms. By default it deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, and may keep content flagged for a policy violation for longer; VibeVote has no zero-retention arrangement. See Anthropic's retention policy.

Please don't type anything that identifies you or anyone else: no names, addresses, phone numbers, health details or other sensitive information.

Share links

A share link is created only when you tap Share, Copy link or one of the social buttons. It stores your state, your congressional district, your language and your manifesto: the title, the text, the traditions, the priorities, the best-fit states and the position scores, plus a preview card drawn from them so the link shows it when pasted. It does not store your age, gender, household, work or your interview answers. Anyone who has the link can open it.

A link expires by itself after about three months. You can delete it sooner yourself: open Share and choose Delete shared link, in the browser where you created it. If that browser is gone, send the link to hello@vibevote.us.

Your browser

VibeVote keeps your consent, your language, your ZIP code, your latest result, your share link id and the key that lets you delete that link in your browser's local storage, so the page can show them to you again. Clearing the site data removes them. One short-lived cookie holds a random id for your anonymous interview session, for up to three hours, and nothing about you. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

Checking you're a person

Before the interview starts, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person, not a script, is asking. It does this without a puzzle in most cases and without advertising cookies.

Technical logs

The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request details to deliver the page, block abuse and apply rate limits. For each AI request VibeVote logs only technical facts: which step ran, the model, the language, token counts, duration and whether it succeeded. Your details, your answers and your manifesto are never written to logs. VibeVote doesn't sell or share personal information and doesn't use it for advertising.

Where it works

The interview and shared results are available to visitors in the United States. The country is determined by Cloudflare from the network connection.
